AMILCAR CABRAL,
OUR MEMORIAL
I
Cabral
dreamed,
fought
and fell
for independence
Total of your land(s),
Guinea and Cape Verde.
II
Like Cabral,
Many other compatriots of ours
were guided
Oriented
and guided
For that big dream.
III
At the time
From the great crisis,
The feeling
.general
of catharsis,
From our late Amílcar Cabral,
To the one who gave us freedom,
democracy
and personality
Legal as a nation.
IV
40 years later
of independence,
Dear comrades and compatriots,
What do we actually have today?
Freedom, democracy, justice, progress, development?
.V
I'm amorphous,
I am inert!
I have no soul
As Bolama's son,
As a citizen,
as a child of a nation
Conquered at the mercy of sacrifice and blood
of your best children,
as a citizen
With its own identity,
Because the country disintegrated,
regressed,
Not to say, collapsed
.(Dear brothers, note well, this does not mean that it is pessimistic /, alarmist /, but realistic / in the face of / an evident case /)
SAW
.we are, I mean, Guinea-Bissau is “a republic on paper”, as the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rui Patrício, said in 1973, on an official visit to London. An “act of propaganda”, referring to the proclamation of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, on 24 September in the hills of Boé.
.does this “propaganda” continue to this day? Was it a mere episode and today, a repudiation? We are nothing? Are we not or were we legally independent as a nation, with a state of our own? An independence for “the English to see”? A failed state?
No, no, no comrades! .the state, we are all good children of Guinea-Bissau! My mouth is always “watering” when I hear about Guinea-Bissau! I remember good typical dishes from Guinea, mancarra broth, chabéu and many other delicious seafood dishes!
.the winds of independence did not carry us as far as other independent nations and we remained stagnant, stuck in time and space with the successive governments of those “juguedés” and “santchos”(1) of political power, with those illiterate finance officials who became got rich..illicitly, with those political leaders who publicly stated that the Irans” swallowed the money that was in the State's coffers.
.oh! My Guinea! Guinea “n,dessan”(dessan)(2), will you continue to be always and eternally “n,dessan” among the states of the world, voting its people and its people into misery, ignorance, poverty, and underdevelopment?
SAW
"Mouth watering"
For my Guinea,
Land of every baby,
From each baby,
rich
.and what a shock
Who is the son of good people,
How do you feel,
that has a soul,
when constantly
spills out
Blood
From brothers, like Tagma,
Nino Vieira,
Veríssimo Seabra,
Ansumane Mané,
Paulo Correia,
Viriato Pam,
Hélder Proença,
Baciro Dabo
And so many others.
VII
And the memory is still alive
.of all arbitrariness
Perpetrated by the P.A.I.G. Ç.
Especially with illustrious and sublime people,
Like Joaquim Baticã Ferreira!
VIII
.As a being, whose blood is not cheap, I wish, however, that Guinea had a good path, towards peace, solidarity, brotherhood, peaceful coexistence, harmony among all Guineans.
IX
I'm like you,
Or like those who don't have the voice
Along with political bodies and institutions,
.but mine and your word
hear yourself
and reads
for each letter
And syllable someone spells
In silence,
Or out loud,
Without any fear.
X
like independence
Did not fertilize conscience
And the memory
of my comrades,
In all
the stops,
When at the time, everyone shouted:
Live independence,
.live the freedom,
Down with colonialism,
imperialism
And the Salazar dictatorship!
